June Birthday Cards

Hi there, how are you all?

Its a lovely day here at Bribie Island, the sun is shining and there is a light gentle breeze. Such a lovely Winter day.

Last week, I finally got around to sending off birthday cards to all on my ESAD birthday list. Phewww there are starting to be quite a few on the list!! I was particularly busy with all the preparations with going to Convention, then onto defragging my brain to get moving again.

Here is the card I created for the birthdays this month:

June ESAD Birthday Fairies Card.

I again made rosettes with the Simply Scored tool that is in the Mini Catalogue and will be going into the new Annual Catalogue in September, together with a metric board and also a diagonal plate. If you want more information on these tools contact me and I am happy to help.

I have placed the rosette straight onto some Perfect Polka Dot embossed Crumb Cake cardstock. The rosettes have not actually been stitched in the centre like I have seen on some tutorials but rather I put some adhesive sheet on the front and the back of some scrap cardstock and put it through my 1 3/8 circle punch and peeled away the backing sheet, placed the rosette onto this. It holds it in place but also gives a little time to make sure the rosette is even all the way around. I decorated the front of the rosette before peeling the other backing sheet off the back of the punched circle and placed in my desired location. I found this way a lot quicker for me. My rosette seams are joined with sticky strip.

I finished the card of with a little bling and some lovely Marina Mist ribbon. I do admit to loving this ribbon and have a couple of different colours in this now. Thats all for me for now. I am onto my July birthday cards as I want to get a good head start on them. I know already that I am using the “Reason to Smile” stamp set again on these. Before I get too engrossed in those. I am going to try to get to the Sunny Challenge this week before the day ends.

Thank you for stopping by

A “Reason to Smile”

Hi Fellow Crafters,

Thanx for stopping by. Have you seen the latest promotion for June from Stampin’ Up! ? If not its to die for such a soft and subtle stamp set that you can either choose to get for free!! See here how, or you can purchase the set on its own. Its a limited edition so you only have until the end of the month to have this stamp set in your possession. Just click on the above link for more information about the stamp set and getting in contact with me for an order before the end of June.

Now onto a couple of samples that I have made up today and I actually got the inspiration from an old quilt that my mother in law had given to me a long time ago. The kids had dragged it out the other night to snuggle into and watch some television. Here is the old quilt:

Inspiration from an old Quilt

Its mainly the colours in this that have influenced me more than anything so here is a card I came up with:

Reason to Smile – Dream

With all the products on offer at Stampin’ Up, its amazing sometimes to find that there is just that one thing you want that they haven’t got. I wanted Very Vanilla Ink for my “Dream” sentiment. I finally decided to try direct to stamping with our Water colour crayons not bad for a first attempt.

Now onto my second card for the day.

Reason to Smile – 4 You

I am loving working with this stamp set and will make a few more sample cards today. So come back over the next couple of days to see what else I have come up with but for now enjoy. Please leave me some feedback as I am hoping I am on the right track with these couple of samples.

Thank you for stopping by and take care

A Busy Week Indeed.

Hi crafters, I hope that I have had enough time to schedule and post this week. Its Tuesday and I havent gone yet. By the time you read this, our convention will be over and we will be starting our journeys home more than likely filled with inspiration!!!

The lovely Miss Vicky from Sunny Challenges and Creations asked me along to be on the Design Team as a guest again. I jumped at the chance as this just keeps me moving instead of waiting for time to click by until I can get on that plane tomorrow morning and head off for my long anticipated time away.

Here is this weeks sketch

SC 043 – 12 Sketch

We are asked to use the stamp set “Ocean Commotion” when using this sketch. Its a stamp set that is not in my collection of stamps. I made do with the gorgeous Hostess set “Faith in Nature” and here it is.

SC 043 – 12 Challenge using “Faith in Nature”.

I wanted to go for a clean and simple look on the front with no sentiment. Sometimes you just need these type of cards. I used the water colour crayons. I love to water colour.

Anyway this is just a short and simple post today. I am on my way home from Canberra as this posts itself. Gotta love the schedule button.

Swaps from Convention

Hi Crafters, all I can say is wow wow wow!!

Day 2 has not even started and I am having the most wonderful time.

Yesterday morning was amazing, swapping and chatting, it was great to catch up with people or to actually meet them in “Real Life” !!! Then we all went on to Memento Mall and shopped, I love what was on offer this year and I will put up another post with the items I bought later.

I just wanted to post some of the swaps I have received. They are in no order or preference. I just wanted to give you an idea of what I have been receiving. I have many more and will take pics and post some more.

Swap from Delys Cram

Swap from Deb McKean

This is a very quick post as I want to get ready for Day 2.

Today is huge with ‘break out’ classses, make and takes, intermingled with General sessions too.

Yesterday’s General Session was great, with the Fantastic Shelli Gardner opening, what a fantastic speaker she is and as usual gorgeous. We had a wonderful demonstration on the Simply Scored Tools with Brian Pilling – Demonstration Training Manager from the “Home Office” which had many great ideas and was very entertaining.

Prize Patrol in the middle of all this (awesome).

Onto a fantastic speaker, Michael McQueen, who talked about generations eg: Baby Boomers, Gen X , Gen Y. Some very interesting facts came out and I had a couple of  “aha” moments. I came out and bought one of his books called “The ‘New’ Rules of Engagement.

Followed by a final goodbye from Shelli and we finished for the day, as we walked out we all received a new stamp set called “Memorable Moments”. It is going to be quite versatile and cant wait to see how we are going to be using this today in our Make and Takes or tonight in our “I am Creative” class, I cant wait.

Ok off to get ready for another day (I cannot find my brekkie voucher hopefully they will still give me my free brekky this morning). If I dont see you today at Convention, hopefully I will see you soon.

Take care
